The Sovereign Purpose & Power of God

Our salvation is accomplished through the mercy and for the glory of God alone, not by our effort.

Scripture Passage: Romans 9:14-29

From Series: "Called to the Gospel"

Long before he called Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, God was working to bless all the peoples of the earth. His divine offer was good news for His first chosen people — the Israelites — but it wasn’t exclusive to them. When Jesus opened the door to a restored relationship with God, He fulfilled God’ promise to Abraham made long ago: a Kingdom invitation to Jew and Gentile alike. God’s work throughout history has culminated in a spiritual nation, a people fit together from every time, place, and background, and stretching farther than the eye can see. That grand plan includes us, right alongside the people He chose to bless all the nations of the earth. This invitation to join God’s family through Christ is Good News for everyone who is called to the Gospel.

Desperation and Deliverance

In desperation, hide with the King.

Scripture Passage: 1 Samuel 21:1-9

From Series: "The Heart of a King"

What attributes make a great leader? We might list things like strength, courage, vision, decisiveness, power, or service. We may want a leader who can get things done or who can create a following. These attributes or characteristics are not bad, but we must remember that the heart of a leader is still the most important attribute. God says in 1 Samuel 16:7, “For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” A true leader has a heart that trusts the Lord. A faithful leader has a heart molded by suffering. An authentic leader has a heart of integrity. The leader we need has a heart after God’s own heart.
