New situations, new circumstances, new obstacles, new challenges. In the face of these things, we can respond with obstinance or obedience, avoidance or allegiance, fear or faith. Under Joshua’s leadership, Israel faced the same difficulties. But to them, and to us, God proved himself faithful and powerful…again and again!
The book of 1 John examines what real faith looks like in a life shaped by Christ. It contrasts themes such as light and dark, love and hate, truth and lies, and life and death in a way that calls believers into authentic fellowship with God. It confronts false assurance and calls us to abide in Jesus. It condemns false motives and calls us to true obedience. In John’s letter we’ll see how our faith is demonstrated in how we live — showing love, walking in truth, and practicing obedience.
