God as Judge, Jury, & Executioner
Scripture Passage: Micah 1:1
From Series: "Ancient Words, Modern Message"
God’s people in the time before Christ were a clash of contradictions. They were recipients of a special covenant and yet examples of unfaithfulness. They were given God’s directives and yet in constant need of God’s correction. They were a promised people and yet, too often, a pathetic people. The role of the Old Testament prophets was to remind them of God’s expectations and to warn them of God’s judgment. The Minor Prophets are some of the most powerful messages in all of Scripture because they reveal the heart and plan of God and the cost of ignoring them both. The Prophets speak to specific situations in the ancient world. Yet their message is to God’s people in all times.
