There’s an App for That

The Scripture testifies repeatedly to its own importance in our lives. In it, we learn that:

2 Timothy 3:16,17
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

The Scripture is so important that we are to meditate on it day and night (Psalm 1:2).

Committing Scripture to memory, then, becomes an important element of training for effective ministry to others in our spheres of life. We recently stumbled upon an app available for iOS and Android devices that might give you some assistance in making Scripture memory a part of your daily routine.

The app is called Fighter Verses, and it was developed by Desiring God Ministries. Fighter Verses takes you through several years of weekly biblical texts for memorization and offers a lengthy list of extended-length memorization texts from the book of Philippians. The app includes memory verses so you can categorize the Scriptures you’ve memorized. It also includes several helpful quiz modules on each verse, as well as the ability to hear audio of the text being read (or even sung)!

In addition to all this, you can add your own verses and use some of the quiz modules with them. The app generates periodic reminders so you don’t forget to review the verses regularly.

Not usually do we endorse an app, but I’ve found this one to be quite beneficial in my own Bible memorization efforts, and I believe you will, as well.

Good to hear this, Dustin – though not surprising since you were the one who introduced me to the app!
