The Power of the Powerless

In Your Powerlessness, Trust in the Powerful One

Scripture Passage: Matthew 27:32-40

From Series: "Paradox: The Ironies of the Cross"

Jesus lived an influential life. For some, He represented a revolution. For others, He brought the wisdom of a revered teacher. For a few, He was the embodiment of moral perfection. When Jesus died, all these things seemed to die with Him. But the death of Jesus proved to be the ultimate paradox. He was mocked as king, but is the true King. He seemed utterly powerless, but holds infinite power. He didn’t save himself, but saves others. He cried out in despair, and yet trusted His Father fully. Matthew’s Gospel documents the reality that Jesus’ death is history’s greatest irony. What appeared to be the death of a dream, a purpose, a man…turned out to be God’s life-giving plan for humanity.
